Specific aims of
BRUHK |

The specific aims of BRUHK are:
- To foster multi-disciplinary, inter-departmental and inter-faculty collaboration,
through the use of bioinformatics tools, in research that addresses biological
questions arising from genome projects.
- To increase the level of knowledge of bioinformatics within the University
and community by providing training programmes in the use of bioinformatics tools.
- To assist in the development of bioinformatics curricula at the undergraduate
and postgraduate levels.
- To coordinate the provision of the most up-to-date bioinformatics software
and databases to the University.
- To promote interest in bioinformatics research by organising internal seminars,
workshops and symposia, and regional and international conferences, thereby
publicising the research work of the University both within Hong Kong and
internationally.
- To foster the development of collaborative links between our investigators
and scientists from local institutions, from our regional neighbours including
China, Taiwan and Singapore, and from international institutes.
- To establish HKU as a regional centre of expertise in bioinformatics.
- Through this activity, assist in the downstream development of bioinformatics
tools of commercial value and to foster University-industry links.
